The arts at Trinity this semester has seen some exciting initiatives occurring within the College and as part of the wider intercollegiate competition.
Residential student, Felicity Martin (3rd year Science), sought to harness the musical talent of members of the Trinity community and has created the Trinity College Orchestra.
First semester has got off to a great start this year – students have completed vacation programs, received scholarships and been awarded University Blues. Congratulations to all students on their outstanding contributions!
Last Wednesday 25 April, Trinity hosted Dr Damian Powell, Principal of Janet Clarke Hall, as part of the Fireside Chat program. Resident student Andrew Hearl (TC 2011) attended the chat and shared his reflections.
During this year’s Orientation, all incoming Trinity College Foundation Studies students were provided with an iPad for use in their studies. The initiative follows the results of the Step Forward Pilot Project, in which iPads were trialled with students and teachers of the 2010 August Extended (AE) program.
Six past and present Trinitarians were honoured at the University of Melbourne’s 2012 Sports Awards and Blues Dinner on Friday 20 May, receiving University Blues for their service.
Last Wednesday 18 April, Trinity hosted Polixeni Papapetrou, artist of the recent ER White additions, and her art-critic husband Robert Nelson as part of the Fireside Chat program. Resident student Nathan Van As (3rd year Arts) attended the chat and shared his reflections.
Participating in a vocational program is an invaluable experience for students and one that James Mecca (3rd year Commerce) is embracing at Australian mining company, Newcrest Mining Limited.
